Hi! My name is Brad, in April. 2007, my wife and I had our first child, Sofia. I want to spend as much time as I can with our first child, and I've always wanted to be a stay-at-home-dad. My wife gave me a challenge: I can stay home with our baby if I pay off our mortgage. For the next several months/years, that is my goal.

I plan to trade my way up to paying off that mortgage, selling off items that I have gained through trades...and that is where you come in. I have several items listed for trade on the items page of this site. I'm accepting trade offers only. If you see something you like, let me know what you have, and hopefully we can work out a trade. After we agree to a trade I will try meet you to exchange the goods (or services!) I live in Worthington, Ohio.

Stay-at-Home-Brad

Email me at stayathomebrad@yahoo.com with trade offers, donations, comments, or questions.

Thanks to One Red Paperclip for the idea.

Columbus Dispatch Round 2

Once again my favorite newspaper The Columbus Dispatch and my favorite reporter Kristy Eckert did a great story on my trading. This time it was just a recap of what I've been doing. Check it out:

Columbus Dispatch Article

Thank you Kristy & The Columbus Dispatch.

I think the fact that you want to spend time with your child should be respected... but REALLY? Staying at home allowing your wife to support you? And expecting people to want to donate to a unrealistic dream. Man Wake up. Get a career. What example are you really showing your child. That you quit working as soon as you could pay off your house. I'm sorry for you!

^^ dude, i know plenty of stay at home dads that have my utmost respect. just because the it's not "normal" doesn't mean it's undignified.

stop living in the 1950s.

Well basically, what it boils down to is what you'll teach your children. Is it okay to show them you only have to do what it takes to get by? Do you want you're kids to see you achieve one primary goal and lay down shortly after and go on auto pilot. I don't think this is showing them to strive for much. It's not about living in the 1950's, unless we left "preparing our children for life" in the 1950's also.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE.. Picked a wrong reason to pay off the mortgage. He can't go back now.. too late.. lol

Maybe change the reason for all these junk trade and you might get what you are wishing for. Redclip guy didn't take this much trading. Why?? I'll let you find out why on your own.

Brad.. I'll give you a stayathomejob if you need one, but don't quit your dayjob even if you pay off the mortgage.

Wonder how much you would've made if you spent this much effort in something else.. HMMMM?????????????????
