This thing here, a The First Years brand Smart Warmer, is a real handy piece of equipment. First, it has a reservoir on the side you put water in and it lasts at least all day. So you don’t have to mess with filling it up each time you want to warm up a bottle.
Second, it has different settings for different types of milk, bottle, temperature and amount. So you select the settings that correspond to what you have and it adjusts the heating time accordingly. And the heating time is usually very short, like a couple minutes. The settings seem to work pretty much like they should, the only problem I have experienced it when it comes to frozen breast milk.
I only tried one time to go from frozen breast milk to drinking temperature. That one time it took me several cycles of the machine to get it done. This isn’t a deal breaker however. As I recall the expensive Medela brand warmers in the NICU took a half an hour to go from frozen to baby ready, so it’s not all that bad.
Well, all in all I would recommend the First Years brand Smart Warmer. It definitely is an improvement over sitting the bottle in a cup of hot water, which we were doing before. It is quick and easy and makes those middle of the night bottle warming duties easier to handle. If you are looking for a bottle warmer for around $30 this is the one for you.
