Project Baby Food Is A Success

A Baby Bullet baby food making system and baby food in jars. Today was baby food making day. We had been purchasing too much food for Eliza lately and needed to get back into making it ourselves. We’ve been out and about a lot lately and it is definitely easier using store bought since we don’t can the food. We may look into doing that so we can have some food to take with us during our travels.

But anyways, the ingredients used today were: sweet potato, carrots, parsnips, mustard greens, ham, mango, lima beans, corn, green beans and peas. I Baby Bulleted all these up individually and then mixed them up in different flavor combinations afterwards. My favorite was sweet potato, ham and mango. That one is good. It’s similar to the ham, pineapple and rice store bought flavor that Eliza loved.

After all was said and done I ended up with 16 jars of food, which is a nice haul. I’m not sure how much all the ingredients cost but I know it was less than it would have been to buy 16 jars of baby food in the store. Next time I’ll make sure to figure out exactly how much ingredients went into the food and calculate out a dollar cost per jar.

You have to also figure in the time cost, but as I like to cook, this is negligible for me (I think it took just over an hour). It is fun blending up things in the Baby Bullet. What a great food making system. I only wish it came with more of the food storage jars. They aren’t all that much $ to purchase separately, but we’ll never do it. We just use the empty and washed out store bought food jars.

Yep, that’s what we did today. How about you? Did you get out and enjoy this warm summery day? They said it was a record high temp today in Denver but I think they must have their thermometer on a hot tin roof or something because it definitely didn’t feel like it to me. But I’m no weather man or anything.Ok, bye!

All I can say is, you are a better man than I.

We tried making our own when our youngest was still eating jarred food, but at the rate he ate it, it was a lost cause.
